A tree lighting ceremony, a holiday parade, multiple Santa (and Mrs. Santa) Claus appearances: Sherwood, Oregon boasts quite a variety of holiday events, and the McCabe team is here to help you sort through all of your many options! Here’s a compilation of what’s happening this holiday season.
Winter Festival. Sat., December 5th. The Sherwood Winter Festival is a wonderful annual community celebration taking place rain or shine and includes a parade, a tree lighting ceremony, and much more:
- Community Parade at 4pm. From Sherwood Plaza to Old Town. Anyone can join, just sign in by 3:30 at the Post Office.
- Holiday music performed in Cannery Square Plaza by choirs.
- Annual tree lighting in Cannery Square Plaza.
- Live Nativity at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
- Bring kids to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus too!
- Free hot dogs and discounted cookies. $1 hot chocolate benefitting a local food bank.
- Free gifts for kids and pets (while supplies last)
Red Sled Bazaar. Open Mon. – Sat. 10am-6pm and Sun. 11am-5pm until December 24th, located next to the Sherwood Target and Red Robin. This annual event displays wares from more than 80 vendors and artisans and includes snowmen, Santas, ornaments, furniture, foods, and jewelry. They are also teaming up with the Oregon Food Bank to fill its sled with nonperishable food.
Holiday Happy Hour: Two Spirit Jazz Concert. Fri., December 11th, 4:30pm-6:30pm at the Sherwood Library. Start your Friday night out in the Library for live holiday music from Two Spirit Jazz, along with warm beverages and snacks. Curl up with a book, or bring a date, for this festive concert.
The Spirit of Christmas: VPA Performance. Sat., December 12th at 4:00pm. This concert will feature The Sherwood Chorale and 7 Children’s and Youth Choirs singing a variety of Christmas songs including traditional carols and pop favorites. Seating is limited, so be sure to buy your tickets online! $10 for General Admission, children 3 and under are free.
For the Kids
Santa in the Plaza and Holiday Open House. Sat. Dec 5th, noon – 4pm at Sherwood Plaza. Hosted by the Sherwood Chamber, this event is free and includes photos with Santa, wine tasting, and carriage rides. This event is for the young and old.
Breakfast With Santa. Sat., December 12th from 9am-11am at the Sherwood YMCA. Join us for breakfast, crafts, games, and pictures with Santa and Olaf from Frozen! One picture per family included in the registration fee. Membership and financial assistance is available. Reserve your breakfast time when pre-registering. This event is open to everyone! The fee is $20 per family of 5 or less ($2.50 for each additional family member), $7 per individual.
Mrs. Claus is Coming to Al’ of Sherwood! Sat. December 12th at 10am and 1pm. Mrs. Claus will be visiting and young children are invited to come listen while she reads some of her favorite holiday books. Parents and grandparents, bring your cameras to capture the holiday memories!Registration is not required.
Breakfast with Santa and Olaf. Sat., December 12th. Come join the Sherwood Chamber for Breakfast with Santa and Olaf. $20 for a family of 5 or less ($2.50 for each additional family member) or $7.00 for an individual. Polar Express Party. Sun., December 13th, 1:30pm at the Sherwood Library. All aboard for a reading of the book, followed by a short open-mic for attendees to share favorite holiday traditions. Warm cocoa served. Open to all ages.
DIY Craftshop: Snowglobes. Thurs., December 17th at 3:30pm at the Sherwood Library. Unleash your inner crafter with a monthly craft series inspired by Pinterest. Supplies provided. Registration required. Ages 12 to adult.
Stuff the Bus Event. Sat., December 12th at Sherwood Safeway from 11am – 4pm. Join Sherwood High School students as they team up with Safeway to fill a school bus with food for the local Helping Hands Food Bank. The goal is to bring in over 75 boxes of food at this event.
Woodhaven Food Drive. Sat., December 12th at 11am. Woodhaven residents are teaming up with Sherwood High School students to collect as many non-perishable items as possible. Place donations outside of front porch by 11am for pickup.
