Happy Mother’s Day From Leslie McCabe

filed under: Real People Real Stories, Real Stories posted on May 10th, 2009

As a mother of 3 boys (2 biological and one stepson) being a mother, owning a real estate business, and volunteering in my community is a constant juggling act.

In 2000, I left my corporate job just shy of 8 years as an account executive for a large workers compensation firm to stay at home with my 1st son. I was very successful and loved working hard and going “above and beyond” for my clients which reflected in my constant sales awards and income. I had achieved all that I could with this company and was ready to change careers and priorities…I wanted to start my own family with my husband, Todd. In February of 2000, we welcomed our 1st son. After my maternity leave was over, I went back to work for 2 months. During this time, Todd who at the time was still working as a crime scene investigator/sheriff and was also a real estate agent, took time off to be at home with our new baby boy. When the 2 months was over, I resigned from my account executive position to be at home with our son and to help Todd with our investment properties and his real estate business.

Because Todd was already a real estate agent, it was my turn to get my license. In June of 2002, 8 months pregnant with our 2nd son, instead of attending real estate school, I decided to challenge the Oregon real estate exams. I scored in the mid and high 90’s on all 3 of my tests and my real estate career was finally on it’s way. Now almost 7 years later, I am still very happy with my choice to become a real estate agent. Many people ask me how I can do it because it involves being available 24/7. I remind them or tell new clients that my husband came from a 16 year law enforcement job that at times involved being available 24/7. Plus having my own business allows me to be with our boys more and has been a great fit for our family and lifestyle.

I love my real estate career. People who meet me know that I love what I do.
It’s my life and my passion.

I am also very human. I have days that I am tired from staying up too late working on a marketing project, or that we need milk (like today and now tonight) or that my car needs to be cleaned up again or that we need groceries. I do know this: my boys know that I love them. So even if we have hot cocoa today because we are out of milk, they know that I truly love being their mom.

So, from my home to yours, a sincere and humble Happy Mother’s Day to all of our past and current clients, friends, family, & co-workers who are mothers, you deserve it!!!

Your Real Estate Agent for Life, Leslie McCabe, from the McCabe Real Estate Group, A.K.A. Mason’s mom

Real People Making A Difference

filed under: Making A Difference Award, Real People Real Stories, Real Stories, Relay for Life Sherwood posted on April 26th, 2009

Even though we are a real estate business and our blog is about real estate and community events in and around Sherwood Oregon, we feel it’s important to recognize people “making a difference” in their community or in someone’s life. Volunteering and giving back is a huge part of The McCabe Real Estate Group’s business philosophy so we decided to start a “Making a Difference Award” recognizing an individual, group, or even business who goes above and beyond to help out their community or a family/person in need.

Meet the Jackson Family.

They are past clients of ours and also participants in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Event of Sherwood, Oregon, an event we are very passionate about and are local volunteers and sponsors of (they are also past sponsors of Sherwood’s event). They are also business owners like we are. Their business, located in Sherwood Oregon is called NW Boat Tops. They specialize in making custom canvas tops and covers for boats.

On Monday, April 27th, Michele will be donating one of her kidney’s to her very sick brother. He will die if he doesn’t get a kidney transplant and Michele immediately stepped forward to be the candidate to help her brother have the chance of life.

Michele, you are an amazing lady and we are proud to give you our 1st, “Making a Difference” Award. With this comes a $25 gift card to a store of your choice as our way to say “thank you” for being a positive role model to others.

So from the McCabe Real Estate Group, we want to applaud Michele Jackson for “Making A Difference” and being a hero to many.

We wish you and your brother successful surgeries and healthy and speedy recoveries.

If you know of a company, group or person, making a difference in their community in and around Sherwood Oregon, (Beaverton, Newberg, Tualatin, Sherwood, Aloha, Tigard, Wilsonville,) please tell us their story. Contact us at 503.880.9866 or email us leslie@toddmccabe.com. We may select their story in our blog and recognize them as one of our “Making A Difference” award winners.

Remember,
