Celebration Of Life Today For Tristan Rychlick

filed under: Community Events posted on February 13th, 2009

We are honoring Tristan today, one of our Sherwood, Oregon “Cancer Kids” who at just 8 years old, lost his battle to brain cancer on Thursday, February 5th.

We participate in the Relay for Life event so that:
Children someday should never get cancer
For Families to never have a child with cancer and then to lose that child to cancer

In honor of Tristan, today will be a “no blog” day as we remember Tristan and his family.

With deepest sympathy from the the McCabe Real Estate Group,
Todd, Leslie, Mason and Landon too

(Tristan and his mom last year at our benefit Egg hunt that we held for Tristan in Sherwood, Oregon)

2009 Sherwood Relay for Life Event Theme

filed under: Community Events posted on February 11th, 2009

And the Winner is: Color Me a Cure

Color Me a Cure was announced as Sherwood’s 2009 event theme. Traci Sutherland, Director of Technology for the Sherwood School District, submitted the winning theme. Each team at Sherwood’s Relay for Life event can decorate their campsite area based on a particular color. (Shane Murray, from Sherwood’s School District accepted Traci’s certificate on her behalf). The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Sherwood held their annual Kick Off event on Tuesday February 10th at the Sherwood Senior Center. Teams and members of the community attended the event to celebrate 25 years of Relay and to start raising money for Sherwood’s August 8th to 9th event that will be held again at Sherwood High School’s track and field.

Mark Christie, Sherwood School District Board member, and cancer survivor, was the guest speaker. He shared his story as a cancer survivor.

The Sherwood School District has been very involved in Sherwood’s Relay for Life event. Last year, the school district, “Team District” had a team in the relay. This year, “Team District” led by Shane Murray, Sherwood School District’s Receptionist, will be coordinating all food sold at Sherwood’s event. Shane, a Sherwood resident of 4 years, is also on Sherwood’s Relay for Life planning committee as the Food Chair. Her experience with the Relay for Life event began in Arizona and she has been involved in Sherwood’s Relay for the past 3 years. Her father passed away from cancer when she was only 17, so her life too has been touched by cancer.

Sherwood’s goal is to have over 35 teams registered to participate in the August 8th and 9th event. To learn more about Sherwood’s event, go to www.relayforlife.org/sherwoodor

In and Around Sherwood Oregon

filed under: Community Events posted on November 30th, 2008

Greetings From Sherwood Oregon!

Discover “In & Around Sherwood Oregon” through us, local Sherwood Oregon residents, top real estate producers, and local area volunteers.

Whether it is the annual holiday tree lighting event in Sherwood or an update on homes that have recently sold in the area, look to our “In & Around Sherwood Oregon Blog” for news about local real estate, fundraisers and events from our family to yours.

A family that believes “paying it forward” is very important, we live in a community that we love, and are teaching our children that you can make a positive difference in others lives by being active in your community.

Todd became a real estate agent in 1999 with myself following him in 2002. During this time, Todd was also a Deputy Sheriff for the local county. For the last 9 of his 16 years in law enforcement, Todd was a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI Guy). Even though he enjoyed solving crimes, his passion for real estate led him to retire from law enforcement in 2006. In 2000, I left a successful account executive position with Liberty Northwest Insurance companies to manage our investment properties. In 2002, I then became a licensed real estate agent giving our clients 2 agents available 24/7.

For 7 consecutive years, we have received awards for our levels of real estate production. This has been only been acheived through hard work, a trusted reputation, and by putting our client’s needs 1st. In return, we have earned our customers choice as their preferred real estate agents which has kept our business strong by their referrals.

Because we have been licensed real estate professionals for several years, we have a large data base of past clients and business associates along with access to many excellent marketing resources that allows us to network for you 24/7. This is not just a “job” to us. We have personally lived it. Not only are we homeowners, but we have also remodeled numerous investment properties learning what not to do and what not to buy, so we come with our experiences and stories to share.
It’s our life and our passion.”

Local Sherwood Oregon residents, we are very active volunteers in our community. In 2005, I helped organize the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event of Sherwood Oregon. For the past four years, along with being an event sponsor, I was the event chair and Todd was the logistics chair helping raise over $200,000 for the American Cancer Society. For the 2009 Sherwood event, I am now the PR chairwoman and am looking forward to the August 8th and 9th 2009 event at Sherwood High School.

Two years ago we held our 1st Annual Benefit Egg Hunt around Easter time to raise money for a local family in need. We plan on holding our 3rd annual egg hunt the 1st part of next April for a local Sherwood Oregon boy who has an inoperable brain tumor.

For the past 3 years, we have also been the sponsors of Woodhaven’s Annual Community Garage Sale, with over 90 homes participating each year.

Currently we are sponsoring a tree fundraiser with Jorgensen Tree Farm in Newberg, Oregon to raise money for a local Sherwood Oregon boy who has an inoperable brain tumor. We decided this winter to spend less on our family and to help out someone else. Todd thought instead of waiting for our annual egg hunt, let’s do something now, so this is how our tree event started! For every tree sold with a coupon from our website at http://www.toddmccabe.com/, the tree farm will donate $5.00. We will then match the $5.00 donation (up to $500.00).

Thank you again for taking the time to visit our blog. I hope you look for future information about what’s going on
“In & Around Sherwood Oregon.

Warmly,
The McCabe’s~ Leslie & Todd
